Hi, I’m Hannah Reynolds, the heart behind Seasoning Therapist.

I believe food can comfort, restore, and gently reset us after a long day. I started Seasoning Therapist with one simple idea in mind: cooking is not just about feeding the body, it is about caring for the mind too. The right seasoning can change the mood of a dish, and sometimes even the mood of the person eating it.

This blog is where I combine my love for thoughtful cooking with my belief that the kitchen can be a place of healing.

My Early Relationship with Food

I grew up in a quiet suburb outside Minneapolis, in a home where dinner was sacred. No matter how busy the day had been, we sat down together every evening. My mother cooked simple meals, but she cooked them with attention and care.

I was a sensitive child. I felt everything deeply. On hard days, I would find comfort standing beside her at the stove, stirring soups or sprinkling herbs over roasted vegetables. I noticed how small additions changed everything. A squeeze of lemon made a heavy dish feel lighter. A pinch of cinnamon made oatmeal feel warmer and more inviting.

Even then, I understood that seasoning was more than flavor. It was atmosphere.

Education and a Different Path

I studied psychology in college because I was fascinated by human behavior and emotional wellbeing. After graduating, I worked in community support roles that focused on helping people manage stress and life transitions.

During that time, cooking became my personal therapy. After long days of listening and supporting others, I would come home and cook slowly and intentionally. I experimented with spices, fresh herbs, and balanced flavors. I paid attention to how certain dishes made me feel.

I started sharing meals with friends who were also navigating busy, demanding lives. They often told me that eating at my table felt calming and grounding.

That feedback planted a seed.

How Seasoning Therapist Was Born

The name came from a casual conversation. A friend once said, “Your food feels like therapy.”

That sentence stayed with me.

I began writing about how seasoning shapes not only flavor, but experience. I shared recipes along with reflections about slowing down, tasting intentionally, and cooking with presence.

What began as a small personal blog slowly grew into a community of readers who wanted more than just instructions. They wanted connection. They wanted reassurance that cooking did not have to be rushed or perfect.

Seasoning Therapist became my way of merging my background in psychology with my passion for food.

My Cooking Philosophy

I believe that seasoning is emotional as much as it is technical.

Here is what guides my approach:

• Cook with awareness and patience
• Season gradually and taste often
• Use herbs and spices to create balance
• Focus on comfort without sacrificing depth
• Let food be a moment of pause in a busy day

I do not believe in overwhelming flavors. I believe in harmony. A dish should feel complete and soothing, not chaotic.
